What does arch support mean?

Arch support is for the feet, but can actually help improve much more than just the feet. It helps distribute the weight of the body on the foot, so that the pressure of carrying the body is more evenly spread out on the foot and not just concentrated to a single area.

This helps if you are experiencing symptoms like swollen or achy feet. Even if you are not currently experiencing any problems with your feet, it is still advised to have footwear with a good arch relax as it can help both preventing any problems in the future, but also helps on a number of other things – it improves your posture as you are more aligned in your entire body, when your feet have the best conditions. It can also help improve your balance as you are more connected to your body and it gives you a better sense of your own movements, making your walk and your feet much more secure.

When are house shoes with arch support needed?

In general arch support is a good thing for your feet. We all need some of it, especially if we walk and stand a lot during our everyday life. If you start to experience swollen feet, that your feet are feeling tired or even painful, or if you start having pain that runs along the legs and ends in the back, you might have insufficient arch support. We urge you to talk to a professional, if you experience these things. But know that glerups can be an aid in this specific situation.

Danish design with maximum comfort

Our footwear from glerups are made to bring you the highest level of comfort. The first time you put on a pair of glerups, you will feel how the shoe “grips” your foot and gives you relaxing comfort.

Following in the footsteps of Danish designers, glerups adheres to Danish design philosophy of making something simple, functional and elegant. Our footwear is simple, both in design and expression – there are no accessories or unnecessary extras. Just comfortable footwear for everyone. They are functional as they can be used all year and for almost any occasion. Their elegance is found both in the simplicity and also the colours, which are inspired by Nordic nature. These colours have a subtlety to them, which also makes them an easy fit into your everyday wardrobe.

A very special wool blend makes all the difference

At glerups we have spent years refining the mix of wool that goes into making our footwear. From the very first slipper produced, it has been a key value to ensure that the wool used is the finest possible for best comfort and softness. Today we use a blend consisting of natural wool from Danish Gotland sheep and wool from New Zealand. This mix is phenomenal as it has loads of natural benefits and properties. It can keep your feet warm, when it’s cold, but can also help your feet stay cool on warm days. This is due to the fibres in the wool absorbing any excess heat, so you get just the right amount.

Even when worn in longer periods of time or on a very warm day, you will not have to worry about any odour, as the wool absorbs that too. Both odour and heat is released, when you let the shoes rest for a bit, ideally in a place with fresh air. This is also a part of the overall maintenance of the shoes, which is easy to follow, if you just take your time to read these few instructions. By following these guidelines, you elongate the lifespan of your glerups shoes as they are made to last more than just a season.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that the fibres of the wool have a molecular structure close to that of human skin. This means that your skin will not be irritated by wearing the shoes even for an extended period of time, as would be the case with leisure footwear made from other materials.

The Langdal

We at glerups keep developing our footwear to ensure that we only ship the best out into the world. Our latest member of the glerups collection is The Langdal which is found on our website. It is a lace shoe, designed like a sneaker, with all the natural benefits and properties of our other footwear. Perfect for a casual look on a day off, for school or work. It comes in neutral colours of grey, cream, charcoal, light green and rosa and has a subtle elegance to it.

The Langdal is a part of project zero waste, which means that it is made with a so-called waste product from the food industry. We have used coconut fibre for the insole and midsole, as it is both comfortable to wear and easy to work with. We like to call this “ethical elegance”, as it both represents our style and expression, but also our passion for creating footwear in a way that causes as little stress on the environment and the planet as possible.
