Soft soles for extra comfort and warmth

Upgrade the comfort and isolation of your footwear with soles from glerups. These soles are especially suitable for footwear that otherwise could cause some discomfort. This could be shoes like work shoes, hiking shoes, rollerblades, ice skates, riding boots, your home shoes in winter or even rubber boots that are practical to wear when doing activities outside, but are seldom isolated. With glerups, you can easily elevate the comfort of your footwear just by adding a sole to them. It doesn’t get much easier to take good care of your feet than this.

Coconut fibre – a part of the Zero Waste Project

A big part of the glerups philosophy is the idea of ethical living. Not only are our footwear made with respect for both people, animals and the planet, we also wish to contribute to projects that seek to do better, when it comes to taking care of the environment. A part of this has been our collaboration with “Zero Waste Project” – an organization focussing on reducing food waste. They send us coconut fibers to implement in our production of footwear. These fibers were to be discarded as they are of no use in the food industry and it turned out, they make the perfect partner for our wool blend.

Wool and coconut – an odd, but functional pair

Putting wool and coconut together might sound a bit strange at first, but in our experience, it is a match made in heaven. The combination of the softness of the wool and the isolating properties of the coconut fibres makes for a great pair, both giving comfort and protection against any unwanted cold. The coconut fibres are the same that are used for coconut mats, which are popularly used as mats at entrances due to the longevity of the material. The same goes for our soles with coconut fibres, not only do they give a good balance for the wearer, but they are made to last for a longer period of time than regular soles of other materials. The wool makes for a soft cushion, as well as providing insulation and comfort, when it comes to temperature regulation of your feet.

Soles with arch relax help weary feet rest

We have had a lot of positive feedback about our footwear with arch relax, which is why we have chosen to make soles with arch support, so you can get the feeling of your feet being held properly no matter the footwear. Your feet are your partner throughout life in terms of transportation and they need extra care to stay healthy.

There are many benefits to adding soles with arch relax to your footwear. It can make your feet healthier in many ways, while also supporting the rest of your body. Some of the most profound benefits of arch support are:

  • Corrects balance – when your feet have the proper support, your posture and balance will naturally improve, causing you to walk “correctly” without burdening joints or in other ways making movements that can be harmful to your body.

  • Pain reduction – both your feet, joints and back will experience a great relief, when you start wearing footwear with arch support, as the cushioning sensation you feel when doing so, both aids and supports your entire body.

  • Better performance – whether you are hiking, running or just walking, soles with arch relax will help improve your performance and give you extra stamina to endure the challenge you have given yourself, simply because your feet feel better, more relaxed and free.

  • Reduces fatigue and headaches – when you give your feet the optimal circumstances to thrive in, your body relaxes better, making unwanted fatigue at the end of the day or those pesky headaches that come when you are too tense in your upper back, shoulders or neck, a thing of the past.

  • Alleviates pressure points – with arch relax soles, the weight of the body is distributed more evenly on the foot, causing optimal foot health. This can help eliminate metatarsal pain and reduce the risk of developing flat feet and other ailments like it. When the body weight is distributed evenly on the foot, there is a reduced risk of getting bunions, plantar fasciitis or other types of inflammation in the tissue of your feet.

New soles for the whole family

In our selections of glerups soles, you will find a match for everyone. You may notice that some of the sizes are piled together, which means that you choose the bracket in which you size is – and then, when you receive the soles, grab a pair of scissors and cut the sole, so it matches your footwear. This way, everyone, no matter shoe size can get a pair of soles that are a perfect match. As you read through the list of benefits of wearing these soles as listed above, it makes it clear that kids too will gain great benefits from these types of soles.

5 mm or 7 mm – what’s the difference?

Our soles with arch relax come in two different sizes when it comes to the thickness of the soles – 5 mm or 7 mm. We have summarized the differences and made a comparison, which hopefully helps you to choose the right sole, according to your needs:

  •  Warmth and insolation – 7 mm soles are capable of providing more insulation, which makes them better suited for colder conditions. The extra thickness gives them an additional layer of thermal protection. 5 mm soles offer warmth too, but are slightly less insulating, making them better for moderate temperatures.

  • Comfort and cushioning – 7 mm soles give more cushioning, making both walking and standing more comfortable, making them ideal for both the avid hiker or someone working in a store, spending many hours on their feet a day, making hard surfaces or stiff shoes more bearable. 5 mm soles offer less padding than 7 mm, but this might give the wearer a firmer, more close-to-the-ground feel.

  • Shoe fit –  7 mm soles can make shoes feel a bit tighter, which can be an issue if the shoes are already a bit tight. If you have tighter fitting shoes, 5 mm soles would be a better choice.

  • Breathability and flexibility – 5 mm soles are often a bit more flexible and breathable than the 7 mm ones. With glerups soles, the difference isn’t that big, but some might feel it more than others. You will be amazed how much of a difference those few mm can make, when putting the soles in your shoes. Some also find that the 5 mm soles are a bit more flexible than the 7 mm, so it is really a question of what you prefer.

In conclusion – choose the 7 mm sole, if you need extra warmth, support and cushioning from your soles. Choose the 5 mm sole, if your shoes are already snug, if you are in milder conditions or if you just prefer a thinner sole.

Introducing the Langdal – our new sneaker shoe

If you have already discovered the benefits of our footwear or soles and want more, or just want to try something new to spoil your feet, as always, glerups got you. We have made an entire shoe based on the philosophy behind the purpose of the soles. Made with both wool, soft chrome-free leather and soles made with coconut fibers, these shoes are a real treat for your feet. Made like sneakers, but so much more comfortable and with a light-weight feel to them, distinguishing them from other sneakers that can be heavy and bulky to wear. Langdal gives you a sense of comfort and freedom, making them perfect for everyday wear.

Make sure you measure your feet and look up your size on our size chart, before ordering, so you don’t get the wrong size. If you do get a pair of Langdal that seem too spacious, you can always put in the extra sole that comes with the shoes. Langdal can be worn all year round due to the properties of the wool, making them feel warm in cold conditions, but cool the feet when it’s warm. As with all of our products, Langdal can also be used for more than just one season, as it is of high quality and only needs a few easy steps to maintain them, making them feel as good as new.
